The 2008 C&C Prize Ceremony was held at ANA InterContinental Hotel Tokyo on November 19. The ceremony started with the welcome speech by Mr. Hajime Sasaki, the president of NEC C&C Foundation, followed by the recognition of 2008 prize recipients by Dr. Yasuharu Suematsu, the chairman of the award committee. The 2008 C&C Prizes were presented to Dr. Hideo Aiso and Prof. Albert-László Barabási by Mr.Hajime Sasaki.

For contributions to the advancement and growth of the computer industry through research and development on computer systems, and for the development of new disciplinary areas in ICT, resulting in the progress of education and research methodologies

Prof. Albert-László Barabási
For stimulating innovative research on networks and discovering that the "scale-free" property is a common feature of various real-world complex networks
(Scale-free means being free of a typical scale such as the average in a distribution. Mathematically, a scale-free network follows a power-law degree distribution and explains the fat tails observed in real networks.)
As shown in the program leaflet, after the congratulatory speeches and the recipients' acceptance speeches, the ceremony continued to the cocktail party and ended with the dinner to celebrate the 2008 prize recipients. Followings are the pictures taken at the ceremony.
