Welcoming speech by Mr.Hajime Sasaki,
President of NEC C&C Foundation
The 2010 C&C Prizes and 25th Anniversary Memorial Award Ceremony was held at ANA InterContinental Hotel Tokyo on November 24, 2010. The ceremony started with the welcome speech by Mr. Hajime Sasaki, the president of NEC C&C Foundation, followed by the recognition of 2010 C&C prizes and 25th Anniversary Memorial Award recipients by Dr. Yasuharu Suematsu, the chairman of awards committee. The 2010 C&C Prizes were presented to Drs. Hiroyuki Sakaki and Yasuhiko Arakawa as Group A recipients, and to Dr. Linus Torvalds as Group B recipient.

For pioneering and leading contributions to the research, development and progress of quantum wire and quantum dot semiconductor devices

For the creation of Linux kernel and the promotion of open-source operating system development

The 25th Anniversary Memorial Award was presented to Drs. Kuninori Uesugi and Jun'ichiro Kawaguchi
For the development of integration systems for “Hayabusa” comprising communications and control technologies as their core, enabling the unmanned craft to land and take off from an extraterrestrial object (the asteroid Itokawa) and return to earth for the first time in history.

As shown in the program leaflet, after the congratulatory speeches and the recipients' acceptance speeches, the ceremony was followed by the cocktail party and ended with the dinner to celebrate the 2010 recipients. Followings are the pictures taken at the ceremony and the party.
